Margaret Hassan, Esq.

A first-generation American, Chicago native, and Florida transplant, Attorney Margaret Hassan is passionate about working hard and advocating for others. Margaret is proud of her heritage with Brazilian and Palestinian roots, which enthusiastically embraces as a fluent speaker of both Arabic and Spanish. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Purdue University, she went on to obtain a Master’s in Business from the University of Arizona. Margaret then completed her Juris Doctor at Western Michigan University’s Cooley Law School, Tampa Bay Campus, where she graduated in the top 5 of her class, finishing Magna Cum Laude.

Professional Highlights

Margaret’s exceptional academic achievements and extracurricular accomplishments earned her the highest recognitions at WMU Cooley Law School – The Alumni Association’s Distinguished Student Award and the Student Bar Association’s Leadership Achievement Award. These acknowledgements honor Margaret’s tireless commitment to service and to the careful reading of the law.

During her time at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, Margaret worked as a legal assistant for Cynthia Hernandez Law, which helped her gain insight into Family Law practice. Margaret served in many leadership positions, including associate editor of the Thomas M. Cooley Homeland and National Security Law Review, Dean’s Fellow in the Academic Resource Center, Parliamentarian of the Student Board Association, President of The International Law Society of Phi Delta Phi’s Castor Inn (PDP), and President of Phi Alpha Delta (PAD), International Law Fraternity.

Margaret now serves as an Alumni Board Member for her law school, as well as a Province President for PDP, overseeing school chapters throughout the state of Florida. She also holds a license in Real Estate for the State of Florida.

Margaret enjoys giving back to her community by volunteering with Bay Area Legal and translating for Spanish-speaking individuals who are in need of legal assistance, as well as volunteering for the Florida Justice Center.

When not at work, she enjoys working out and traveling the world with her husband, Mo, spending time with her family, watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers play, and most of all, fur parenting at home with her dogs, Roxy and Paco.
